Mariano Ortuzar (born 1931 in Santiago, Chile) is widely regarded as one of the most gifted Chilean watercolorists and has achieved international renown in the medium. His work is celebrated for its technical excellence, clarity, delicacy of transparencies, striking contrasts of light and dark, striking perspectives, and superb harmony of color Ortuzar subjects are primarily landscapes of his native Chile, including lakes, forests, volcanoes, seaports, canals, and glaciers, but he also painted scenes from Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Paintings by Ortuzar are in the collections of Pope Paul VI in the Vatican, Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller, Mrs. A. Onassis, Vincent Price collection, Italian Princess Borghese and Prince J.
