A Pair of Early 20th c Chinese Tessellated Bone Veneered Geese Sculptures with hand-cut bone veneer arranged in overlapping feather-like scales. Each goose features a gracefully elongated neck and a serene expression, naturalistic wing contouring, and finely carved details at beak and feet. Their life-size scale reflects a growing trend in mid 20th century interest in whimsical, nature-inspired decorative objects meant to animate spaces and add sculptural dimension. These decorative pieces stand on elegantly round-shaped wooden tripod bases.These geese can be statement sculptures in an entryway or foyer in modern homes.
