This vintage 1964 mid century modern desk from the Acclaim collection designed by Andre Bus for Lane furniture company has enriched character with their signature dovetail inlays adorning the writing surface by. With a total of six drawers, five with inset walnut finger pulls, bottom drawer on the right is double the depth for filing purposes. The edges are softly rounded creating gentle sculptured contours. The center drawer is flaked with drawers that operate easily and smoothly on steel ball bearing drawer guides. Only the top 35% grade of black walnut on the market was considered for this furniture. This series was the best selling furniture line in the mid 60?s, and its charm is enduring. This iconic desk has a knee hole height of 24 inches. Andre Bus (1890-1978) was a French designer and interior decorator who was active in the early to mid-20th century. He was known for his luxurious and eclectic designs, which often combined elements of Art Deco, Modernism, and traditional French design. Bus studied painting and architecture in Paris before beginning his career as an interior decorator. He worked on a number of prestigious projects, including the redesign of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the French Riviera and the decoration of the French Pavilion at the 1939 New York World’s Fair.
