Description
John Field (english) New York City Hall and City Hall Park Watercolor. Professionally framed and matted. Measures in frame 12"x10"x1/2". Weight 1 lb. **In house shipping available on this lot**. Mainly self-taught in oil painting and one-time civil engineer John Field has, since 1993, been regularly exhibiting and selling his work. For 20 years until 2015 he was the chairman and principal organiser of the Worple Group of Artists which mounts exhibitions twice yearly in Wimbledon, London. His subjects include a wide range of landscapes, townscape, and seascapes, and he has in recent years developed an interest in marine painting. His work can be found in private collections in Britain, the United States, France, Australia and New Zealand, as well as in the royal collection of the Sultan of Oman on whose behalf he was awarded a commission to paint historic shows for new offices in his Muscat palace. He has also undertaken commissions to paint favourite scenes. Provenance: Gippy Plantation, Avenue of Oaks, Berkeley County, South Carolina.
