The coin is .583 fine silver and was issued in 1848, The Hungarian coin from the War of Independence period, featuring the Virgin Mary and Child on the reverse. The inscription SZ. M?RIA IST. ANNYA MAGY. OR. VEDOJE translates from Hungarian to Saint Mary, Mother of God, Patroness of Hungary. Each 4 1/2". Weight approx 23 grams. PROVENANCE: The Perrin family, of French Huguenot origin, of Abbeville, Perrin Plantation and Cotton Level Plantation.
