Description
Original Roger de la Corbiere (1893-1974) "Sunrise" Coastal View. Purchased in Spain. Corbiere was born in Vouneuil-sur-Vienne, France, in 1893 and died in Paris at the age of 81 on Sept 3, 1974. Corbiere studied under Choultes at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was influenced by Paul Signac (1863-1935), who helped him to start in La Rochelle at the beginning. He was a friend of Maurice Denis (1870-1943) and of other Art-Sacre painters in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Jean Souverbie (1891-1981) was one of his friends, as well as Lucie Tullat.. In the following years, he traveled and painted on the coasts of France, Italy and Spain and his special liking for the sea made him stay at the Riviera for some months each year. n France, he exhibited at the Galerie Katia Granoff (Quai Conti, in Paris, as well as in Honfleur) and at the Galerie Hautecoeur (rue de Rivoli, Paris); he exhibited also at the Salon des Artistes Ind?pendants, Salon d’Automne and Salon National des Beaux Arts. Measures 22.25" x 25.75" and weighs 6 lbs 15 oz.
