Description
A Ram-Headed Divinity Relief Plaque Egyptian, The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This relief plaque was a sculptor’s model associated with the training of apprentice sculptors in the ateliers of ancient Egypt. It shows the head of an anthropomorphic divinity – a half ram and half human. The facsimile is made in cast stone from a mold taken directly from the original. It is produced by the museum in its own workshop. Each piece is carefully hand finished to recreate the surface texture of the limestone original. Gift of Edward S. Harkness 1918.
