Paul Maxwell (Frost Prairie, Arkansas, 1925-2015) Limited Edition Pochoir Abstract, Pencil signed and numbered by the artist 74/100, one of 3 each slightly different to be sold this auction, see lots 59 & 111. Professionally framed. In frame 25"x46"1". Weight 15 lbs. Paul Maxwell was an important modern American artist, Paul Maxwell first studied art techniques at Principia College in St. Louis (graduated, 1950). He then continued his studies at the Claremont Graduate School, California, in Lausanne, Switzerland, and at the University of Houston, where he also served as an art instructor. Maxwell also founded the Contemporary Arts Foundation in Oklahoma City. Today examples of his art will be found in the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, Oklahoma Art Center, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, University of Texas Museum of Fine Arts and DeCordova Museum, Massachusetts.
