This volume contains the text of previously unpublished letters sent by Jefferson between July 19, 1789 and August 12, 1803. Published in 1829. Among the recipients of the correspondence were Colonel [Aaron] Burr, James Madison, Mr. [Edmond Charles] Genet, John Jay, Colonel [James] Monroe, Gouverneur Morris, General [George] Washington, John Adams, and others. Edited by Jefferson’s grandson, who was the executor of the Jefferson estate. An incredible piece of American History. Contemporary flamed calf binding. Only volume 2 , from a set of 4 volumes. The volume is in good condition: tightly bound, with leather that is remarkably sound; some rubbing of leather. There is light to moderate foxing throughout. Measures 5.5" x 8.5" x 1.5" and weighs 1 lb 8 oz.
