Antique Early 18th Century Solid Oak Coffer. Paneled front, pegged construction. Measures 41"x21"x29.5". PROVENANCE: The estate of noted Charleston Attorney, Scholar and Passionate Collector, James Kirkland Grant, Wentworth Street, Charleston SC. Mr. Grant served on the arbitration panels of AAA, FINRA, New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ and was appointed as special master by federal and state courts. He was a visiting scholar at Columbia University Law School and Harvard, a revered professor at the University of South Carolina Law School and Dean at the University of Delaware Law School. He served as the Chairman of the Board of C4, the Charleston coalition for eliminating cruise ships from docking downtown, showcasing his dedication to creating positive change in the community. Kirk was also the founding Faculty Advisor for the Alliance for Equality at the Charleston School of Law, passionately championing inclusivity and equality in the legal profession. Recognized for his achievements, Kirk was a member of esteemed organizations such as the American Law Institute Inns of Court and the James L. Petigru Inn of Court.
