Charleston, William Carrington Coin Silver Fish Server. South Carolina, late 19th century, oval handle with bead border, openwork fish blade with engraved fish, scroll, and vine decoration. Measures 11.5". Approximate Silver weight 130 grams. William Carrington & Co. was formed in 1835. In 1872, Carrington partnered with Stephen Thomas and continued on as the jewelry firm of Carrington, Thomas & Co. which remained in business to 1920 on King Street in Charleston. PROVENANCE: The Perrin family, of French Huguenot origin, of Abbeville, Perrin Plantation and Cotton Level Plantation.
