John Frederic Der (1926-1996) "Fish Mongers" 1987 Oil on Masonite. Gallery Framed. In frame measures 28"x34"x1.25". Weight 8 lbs. A popular Canadian painter, draftsman and caricaturist, John Frederic Der was born in Canora, Saskatchewan and died in Montreal, Quebec where he had lived for most of his life. His works are in numerous Canadian corporate collections such as Merrill Lynch, IBM, McDonald?s and Pratt & Whitney. His art education includes three years at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts School of Art and Design (1949 ? 1952), where he studied under Arthur Lismer, Marian Scott, Goodridge Roberts and Jacques de Tonnancour. His works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions at prominent commercial galleries such as Galerie Michel Bigue, Montreal; Le Balcon d?Art, Saint-Lambert, Qu?bec; Galerie Archambault, Lavaltrie, Quebec; Galerie Michel de Kerdour, Quebec City; La Corniche Art Gallery, Chicoutimi, Quebec; Hollander York Gallery, Toronto; and Kasper Gallery, Toronto.
