Description
HITOSHI KIYOHARA (Japan, 1896-1956) Five views of children at various pursuits. Woodblock prints, approx. 10.5" x 15.5". Unframed. With Mats 19"x13". Weight to ship all 1 lb. Hitoshi Kiyohara was a print artist active during the early 20th century. Born in Ibaraki prefecture, he studied under both Fuko Matsumoto and Nanpu Katayama. He initially worked as a nihonga or "Japanese-style painting" artist under the name "Sei" but in the 1940s he designed a series of prints depicting children at play. The series was published by Kato Junji.
