Description

Exceptional Pair of Large Antique c. 1790 Chinese Export Canton Tea Caddy in a large scale square shape from James (Jim) Galley. These Chinese export Canton export blue and white tea caddies have beautiful hand painted decoration on all four sides. Very hard to find a pair like these. Each 7.25"x7.25"x13". Weight combined 22 lbs. PROVENANCE: James (Jim) Galley, PA / A Private Charleston Collection. Ref: Van Deusen Virtual Canton Museum. James Galley, whose real name was James Pillagalli, passed away on February 23, 2009 at age 64. He was a well respected specialist in Chinese export porcelain and sold from his home at Rainbow Farm in Lederach, PA and at national antiques shows. He advertised in The Magazine Antiques and MAD. Jim was a real porcelain lover and it was quite hard for him to sell a Canton piece from his private collection.
