James Galley Collection Canton Covered Butter Dish, 19th Century, with strainer plate and domed cover, bamboo and rain and cloud border with Canton river landscape scene. 7"Dx5.25"H. Weight 2 lbs. PROVENANCE: James (Jim) Galley, PA / A Private Charleston Collection. Ref: Van Deusen Virtual Canton Museum. James Galley, whose real name was James Pillagalli, passed away on February 23, 2009 at age 64. He was a well respected specialist in Chinese export porcelain and sold from his home at Rainbow Farm in Lederach, PA and at national antiques shows. He advertised in The Magazine Antiques and MAD. Jim was a real porcelain lover and it was quite hard for him to sell a Canton piece from his private collection.
