Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi, ca. mid to late 20th century. A hand-carved wood, feather and fur kachina doll in the form of an eagle dancer. The costume consists of a knee length carved skirt with a red belt, outstretched arms with wing panels, the beaked head is a ruff of wooly fur. The eagle kachina dancer is the celestial messenger and a symbol of strength and protection.. Initialed A.P. on the bottom of the base. 19" w x 4.5" d x 17" h. Weight 1 pd 3 oz.
