Description
Beautiful pair of entree servers made by Gorham, Providence, Rhode Island in the popular "Chantilly" pattern. The holloware made in this line is uncommon and quite elegant. The bases have undulating edges formed with scrolls and lobed panels that continue onto the oval bodies. Beautiful details of foliage and flowers are hand-chased above the scroll and lobed panel decorations. The cast and applied handles are similarly decorated. The covers have tall, domed interiors surmounted with scrolling foliate handles. The inverted scroll and lobed decoration are repeated above wonderful foliate and fruit swags. once again, chased decoration of ribbons is used to enhance the design. They are marked underneath with Gorham’s trademark Marks: (lion-anchor-G) and ‘STERLING/ A577’ along with a date mark for 1899 on one and 1900 on the other. The covers are also marked Sterling. They measure 12 inches long across the handles by 7.25 inches deep by 7.5 inches high, weigh a combined approximate amount of 69.27 troy ounces
