Pair of James Mont Mid Century Black Lacquer Ming Chinoiserie Chairs. Upholstered in a cream silk. Each 32"x21"x30". James Mont (1904-1978), a notorious mid-century designer and interior decorator, counted gangsters and movie stars among his clients. His bold, exotic, and often Chinese-inspired pieces stand out in decadent relief against a field of restrained modernism. PROVENANCE: A Private Estate, 1016 Fifth Avenue, NYC directly across from the Metropolitan Museum.
