Seascapes, houses in colonial cities and landscapes of Brazil were frequent themes in the work of Durval Pereira (1918 ? 1984). An impressionist at a time when modernists and abstractionists predominated. In his later years, Durvals international prestige soared. He amassed 409 medals in national and international salons, along with 28 commendations.Notably, he received the ?THE BEST IMPRESSIONIST OF OUR ERA? award in Miami, competing against artists from 20 countries. His gold-plated victory at the III BIENALLE MONDIALE DES METIERS D?ART in Nice, France, solidified his status as an artistic ambassador.
