Gordon Wheeler has painted for over 30 years, developing his self-taught and highly personalized style. His paintings are full of vibrant color and are realistic in detail. They include impressions gained firsthand through observation and close study of the subjects chosen. His technique has evolved through painting with oils, watercolors, and acrylics, working mainly in acrylics. His 1990 he opened The Gordon Wheeler Gallery on East Bay Street in Charleston, S.C.
