Description
Exceptional Antique c. 1810 Chippendale Style Flame Mahogany Tall Case Clock with reeded and brass mounted pilasters and raised fielded panels to the case, open work arch top and brass finials. The dial is silvered brass with T & B King, East Smithfield engraved in a decoratve wreath in the arch of the dial. Thomas and Benjamin King manufactured clock at at 82 Upper East Smithfield London between 1802 and 1825. (see F.J. Brittens "Old Clocks and their Makers", published in 1919 by B.T. Batsford Ltd., London, Page 502 for listing.) Including keys, pendulum and weights. Clock does run, not tested for timekeeping. Measures 22"x11"x94". Purchased in 1982 from English Heritage Antiques in New Canaan.
