John Carroll Doyle was born December 22, 1942 in Charleston, SC and lived there for his entire life. He is internationally recognized for his energetic, light filled paintings The artist got his start with his distinctive sport fishing paintings which began to grace the covers of many popular sport fishing magazines in the 1980s. He continued to build momentum throughout the 1980s and the 1990s with his now famous, commissioned, large scale paintings that can be seen gracing the walls of many of Charleston restaurants and historic homes, as well as clubs, resorts, and restaurants as far afield as Illinois, California, Virginia, and Australia. A self-taught painter and photographer, he produced iconic pieces that revealed in memories and stories of Southern culture, especially of his beloved birthplace, Charleston. He brought back to life the colorful flower ladies, fishmongers, and Mosquito Fleet fishermen, but Johns most popular works were the beautifully designed light- and energy-filled canvasses of billfish and wading birds. John was presented the Order of the Palmetto, the states highest citizen honor, and his works graced many covers of sports fishing publications, such as Marlin and Sporting Classics. **In house shipping available on this lot**
