Five Pieces. Very good condition. A very rare complete James W. Tufts, Boston Aesthetic 4 piece triple plated Tea Service and a Aesthetic plated Tray from Reed and Barton. James W .Tufts Boston Triple Plate American Aesthetic Movement Japanesque Small Tea Service. Bamboo, Japanese influenced Geometric Patterns, Vases and Butterfly Medallions. Flower finials, a truly outstanding example of the Aesthetic Movement, featuring all the design influences of the period. The Silver Plate Tray by Reed and Barton, American Aesthetic Movement, is also very rare and quite impossible to find, featuring a hammered background with Daisies, Bird and a Paisley edged rim. Tray 13.25"x20"x1.75"(to handle top). Coffee 6"x4"x5", Tea 6"x4"x4.50", Covered Sugar 5.50"x4"x4", Creamer 4.25"x3.25"x3.25". Weight on all is 6 pds. **In house shipping available on this lot** All in very good condition, light tarnish that is easily polished. PROVENANCE: A Private Charleston SC Estate. In 1875, enterprising businessman James W. Tufts opened up a shop in Boston selling fine silver-plated tableware and elaborate silver soda fountains. The firm operated until 1915. Mr. Tufts turned over the operation of his business to others in 1895 due to poor health and bought 5,000 acres in the sandhills of North Carolina, where he founded the resort town of Pinehurst.
