Description
Charles Louis Kratke (1848-1921) French engraver and genre painter. He studied under Jerome and Charles Albert Waltner and Jean L Gerome and his works debuted at the Salon of Painting and Sculpture in 1868 and in 1887. He held an important place among the engravers of his time and was well noted for his scenes of Napoleon’s campaigns. Kratke’s works have sold at numerous auction houses and are also included in the NY Public Library’s S.P. Avery Collection. Weighs 9 lbs 6 oz. and measures 25" x 31".
