1911 15 Volume Antique Set of John L. Stoddard’s Lectures. John Lawson Stoddard was an American lecturer, author and photographer. He was a pioneer in the use of the stereopticon or magic lantern, adding photographs to his popular lectures about his travels around the world. Because he published books related to his travels, he is credited with developing the genre of travelogues. These volumes include many of his photographs of places all around the world prior to development and world war. Sets feature leather spines with gold gilt and marbled boards. Gilt-gold edges on tops. Each measures about 9" x 6.5" x 1", total lot weight is 30 lbs 3.4 oz.
Condition: good, wear to spines and edges. some foxing.
